STS440A stainless steel bar is a high-carbon, high-chromium martensitic stainless steel. 4STS440A stainless steel bar has a chemical composition of 0.60-0.75% carbon, ≤1.00% silicon, ≤1.00% manganese, ≤0.04% phosphorus, ≤0.03% sulphur, 16.0-18.0% chromium and ≤0.75% molybdenum, with nickel accounting for the highest percentage of the element. Due to its organisational structure of a body-centred cubic structure, its strength decreases sharply at high temperatures. Below 600°C, STS440A stainless steel bar has the highest high temperature strength and the highest creep strength of any stainless steel. STS440A stainless steel bar has excellent quench hardening properties, high hardness and high toughness compared to 440B and 440C steels.
